Ayushman Shakya
Hello! I'm Ayushman- a passionate mental health professional dedicated to helping adults navigate their personal and emotional challenges. My approach blends cognitive, behavioural, and humanistic techniques, carefully tailored to suit each individual's unique journey. Worked with neurodiverse children, neuropsychiatric patients, people struggling with substance use, and people with various psychological concerns like mood, anxiety, grief and more. Above all, I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions openly. I am adept in taking case histories, MSEs, conducting psychological assessments, and planning interventions.
Outside of work, I find long walks quite grounding and enjoy unwinding with music, films, and TV shows. I'm always on the lookout for a good book that can keep me hooked. At the moment, I'm exploring readings on schema therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and queer-affirmative counselling- areas that continue to deepen my understanding and practice.
500+ hours of extensive clinical experience across various settings.
Conducted research on queer mental health, queer platonic relationships, and experiences surrounding suicide.
Taken courses on CBT, Multicultural Therapeutic Skills, Family and Couple Therapy,
Trauma-Informed Care and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Volunteered for organizations working with neurodiverse children and animal shelters
